Latest: Everything we know about the GEEEK M5 case: in final development
Taiwanese case manufacturer GEEEK has begun sharing photos of an upcoming GEEEK M5 mini-ITX with a new steel design–and we love it! The case follows a much sharper design that looks just as appealing as the G series.
Why the M5?
GEEEK first started producing acrylic cases during the last quarter of 2012. Over time the company found its place in the small form factor community for its affordable but still fairly good quality cases, with improvements be made along the way. We first started to see GEEK expand into the higher end cases with its G series aluminium cases, which are great.
GEEEK shared that after working on acrylic and aluminium cases it has wanted to release a new series of cases, built out of steel and a sharper design. GEEEK said that this modern design will allow it to make smaller cases with the same affordable price the company is known for.
What’s new?
A welcome change with the M5 is the ability to mount a 3.5″ drive, which has been missing in all GEEEK’s current cases on the market. The case also supports a 120mm or 240mm all in one liquid cooler in a compact 10.7 litre enclosure.
A first for its metal cases, is the new white colour scheme. The white colour is a first for GEEEK and replaces the standard silver giving the M5 a modern, sleek, and minimalistic look. GEEEK has also gone with a full mesh side panel, allowing for maximum cooling, along with a mesh top panel. It is unclear if the M5 will be mounted on feet from the pictures but seems like fans can be attached to the bottom.
From the images it looks like the M5 can be built by the customer with external screws showing and the clear panels showing. We assume that the side panels will also be magnetic as there seems to be a lip around the edge and there are no thumb screws.
Pricing and availability
The pricing of the GEEEK M5 is currently unknown but is expected to cost around the same as the G1 SE. We think the price will start at around the $130 mark. One thing we do know is the release date, according the GEEEK the case will be released in the fourth quarter of this year–right in time for the holidays.
Along with the photos GEEEK has posted to Twitter, the company has also shared a detailed list of the specs on its case comparer, allowing us to get a better understanding of what can be done with the M5 case.
